Meet the Group
The members of 13th Street Winds met while studying at the Mannes College of Music in New York City (2016). Coming from all different walks of life is what makes the group so dedicated to sharing a wide range of cultural and musical styles. Below, you can find some more insight to our members' roots and work outside the quintet.
Samantha Marshall, flute
(Founding Member, 2016-Present)
Flutist Samantha Marshall is an international performer, speaker, and writer. She has given solo recitals since the age of 17 that include classical, jazz, pop, and folk works, and often include arrangements of her own composition. In addition, she has entered and won numerous National and Regional competitions, including the National Flute Association Masterclass Competition in 2013 and first place in the Flute Society of Washington’s Young Artist Competition (2016).
As an author, she has founded and held the position of editor-in-chief of several publications, including the Carolina Flute Guild at USC Newsletter (2015-16) and her personal blog entitled Home Cooking for Broke College Students. As a speaker, her voice has been heard worldwide from the WTJU radio station where she contributes shows to the Classical Sunrise program.
Samantha has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Carolina, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is currently pursuing her Masters Degree at Mannes School of Music in New York City studying with Keith Underwood.

Chanmi Kim, Oboe
(Founding Member, 2016-Present)
Oboist Chanmi Kim was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. As a young girl, she fell in love with classical music and dreamed of being an opera singer. Later, she discovered the vocal qualities of the oboe and began to study in earnest. Chanmi has performed concertos with many orchestras, including the Seoul Youth Orchestra, and has been giving solo recitals since she was fifteen. Chanmi has performed in masterclasses with Alex Klein, Maurice Bourgue. Since moving to the United States she has completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the New England Conservatory, studying with Keisuke Wakao. Currently, she is working on her Master of Music degree at Mannes School of Music – The New School with Sherry Sylar. She also acts as Ms.Sylar's assistant, as well as being the member of Mannes Orchestra Librarian. In her free time, Chanmi is an enthusiastic baker and cook, as well as a passionate karaoke singer.

Jeremiah Adriano, Clarinet
(Founding Member, 2016-Present)
Jeremiah Adriano is a clarinetist currently working on his Professional Studies Diploma in Performance at Mannes School of Music. He holds a Master of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Florida, and a performance certificate abroad from Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria. He has studied with many notable clarinet players including renowned soloist David Krakauer, Ixi Chen and Jonathan Gunn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Mitchell Estrin who is a retired clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic and noted studio recording artist, and Ferdinand Steiner from the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg. His love for all art forms including dance, acting, and musical theater has helped shape his work today.

Tylor Thomas, Bassoon
(Founding Member, 2016-Present)
Tylor Thomas is currently pursuing his masters at Mannes School of Music, studying under Kim Laskowski, associate principal bassoonist of the New York Philharmonic. Before moving to New York, Tylor got his Bachelors of Music degree at the Boston Conservatory, where he took instruction from Adrian Morejon, a pronounced contemporary bassoonist in the New York area. Since arriving in New York, Tylor was played with Loft Opera, Chelsea Symphony, Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, New York Repertory Orchestra, and Delphi; Yale Chamber Orchestra. At Mannes, he actively performs in opera productions, their contemporary ensemble MACE (Mannes American Composers Ensemble), orchestra, and chamber concerts. He also has the privilege of being Judith Mendenhall’s assistant (head of the woodwind department at Mannes and principal flutist of the American Ballet Theater Orchestra).

Alejandro Salaverry, Horn
(2017-Present)
Alejandro Salaverry recently completed his undergraduate degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Mannes School of Music. Alejandro has freelanced extensively throughout the tri-state area, including performances in many of New York City’s most prestigious’ concert venues. He has premiered new works at Carnegie Hall and participated in a tour of China. He currently studies with Mr. David Jolley.
Jessica Lombardo, Horn
(Founding Member, 2016-2017)
Jessica Lombardo is an active freelance horn player in the New York City area. She has performed with some of the most prestigious ensembles including The New York City Opera, New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, New York Chamber Players, Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, International Chamber Orchestra of America, Ensemble 212, and K Radio Philharmonic just to name a few. She has been premiered on NPR’s Radio show “From the Top” and has also been reviewed in The New York Times and Broadway World. She frequently performs at some of the most famous concert venues in the world including Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, David Geffen Hall and Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. She has toured all throughout Europe and has participated in world renowned music festivals including the British Isles Music Festival where she worked alongside members of the London Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Lombardo has much experience teaching a wide variety of students. She has taught in NYC public schools and private schools. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Music from Mannes School of Music where her primary teacher was Philip Myers, Principal Horn of The New York Philharmonic. She now enjoys teaching a variety of brass and woodwind students at NYME!
